[Ubuntu Hardy][SOLVED] RT2570 - SIOCSIFFLAGS error

Postby Sale on 26 Jun 2008, 20:28

After updating from Gutsy to Hardy, I have followed this How-To but I get an error message every time I try to use it. When I issue the command "ifconfig rausb0 up" I get a "SIOCSIFFLAGS: Invalid argument" error.

While I'm trying to figure out how to fix this, is anyone there who can help me?

While collecting informations about the problem, I noticed a strange outpunt from ifconig. Everything looks normal except that the MAC address displayed is all zero.

ifconfig -a shows:
Code: Select all
rausb0    Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:00:00:00:00:00
          BROADCAST MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1
          RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:0 (0.0 b)  TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)

Ok, finally I found out how to fix this: just manually change the MAC address... You have to know the right one...

To change the MAC address type:
Code: Select all
ifconfig rausb0 hw ether <your-mac-address>

Solved! :D

Hi vicho!! Welcome to the forum!!
I'm glad to know it works for you too! ;)
The problem now is that every time that you reboot your system you have to set the MAC address again...and again, and again, and again... I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to definitely fix this!
